TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) photographs show spiral shaped organisms 3-6 µm in length, attached at one end to the cell surface causing invagination of the luminal epithelial cell membrane. | ||

There is no marked disruption of the cell surface microvilli. The organisms have a cell wall and internal structure and are frequently seen to be spiraled or twisted. | ||
