Tissue was retrieved from a paraffin block, deparaffinized and the deparaffinized tissue was processed for electron microscopy.

The nuclei of the neoplastic cells have round profiles. There is a central, electron dense nucleolus. The heterochromatin is dispersed in central and peripheral clumps.

Electron dense mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum and polyribosomes are present in the cytoplasm of the malignant cells. Cell membranes are closely apposed. Rare, filopodia project into the intercellular spaces.
