| Sections | Clinical HistoryA 71 year old female presented with complaints of pain in the left chest. Review of symptoms was non-contributory and physical examination was unremarkable. The chest radiograph demonstrated a circumscribed, 5 cm, non calcified tumor in the posterior lung field adjacent to the T4 and T5 vertebrae. CT scan demonstrated a solitary lesion in the posterior segment of the right upper lobe. Mammographic studies were unremarkable. The clinical diagnoses included a peripheral nerve sheath tumor and a ganglioneuroma. Fine needle aspiration cytology was performed. The patient underwent a wedge resection of the posterior segment of the right upper lobe of the lung. Her postoperative course was without complications and the patient remains in good health one year after her surgery. |
