Cytology

The cytology smear showed neoplastic cells with pleomorphic nuclei, a high nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio and ruffled cell borders. Nucleoli and mitoses were easily seen.

The cells showed cytoplasmic and nucleolar staining for cytokeratin (AE1/AE3).
