| The ultrastructural findings confirmed the presence of large carcinoma cells with mucous vesicles (Figure 4) and occasional fibrillar bodies within mucous granules (Figure 5). These findings are more likely to represent a large cell adenocarcinoma originating from mucous bronchial glands than a metastatic adenocarcinoma of breast.
Estrogen and progesterone receptors can be demonstrated in non-breast carcinomas and it may represent a false positive result in less than optimally preserved cells. | |
